All About Me - Patty Kurdi - Get to Know Me
I have been teaching in the bay area now for over 20 years, working with preschool aged children through teens. I am CPR, 1st Aid and Health Preventative certified, along with TB and fingerprint clearanced.
I am also the owner of a nationally recognized curriculum program called Adventures In Learning. It's development continues at PattyKakesKidz as our Lab Preschool. Our program is used from the East coast to the West coast and continues to grow.
Continuing education is vital to our changing world, as I am constantly involved in Early Childhood Educational courses, conferences and workshops.
I have a very supportive and wonderful family, with 3 great kids. My youngest son is turning 21 this month and graduated from UCSB with a major in Economics last year. My daughter graduated last year from SFSU in Art History, minoring in Child Development and Child Psychology. I think working with children is contagious as my daughter is a teacher here at PattyKakesKidz and develops curriculum with Adventures In Learning. My eldest owns a small Dog Care business in San Francisco as he has always had a love for the canine.
Yup, I'm a proud mom!
Working with children is the best job in the whole world. Like many providers, I started off as a "babysitter" at the age of 12. I fell in love, and since then, have continued working with kids of all ages. About 13 years ago, I began offering "free" classes out of my home for kids eager to learn. From Writing Classes to Book Clubs, but most recently, I designed a 4H class through a UC based youth development program. I call this class, or project as 4H calls it; "Globe Trotters"; a project designed to foster respect for cultural diversity. I offered this project for 6 months a year, striving to share our diverse world with families. As part of the 4H program, I also was asked to become a Santa Clara County All Star Advisor for teens. It's such an honor working with future leaders. In November 2009, I was was given a Santa Clara County 4H Award of Excellence plaque for my work with our youth in this leadership development program. I proudly display it in our preschool room as a reminder of what I love to do.
Now, on to my home. Once you walk in, you'll feel how warm and welcoming it is. I have our quaint play room, dedicated to your kids. Lots of age appropriate toys for preschoolers thru kindergarteners. The back yard has been designed specifically for your children. There are many slides, a play structure with rock wall, climbing cube, teeter-totter and more all surrounded by a road for the kids to ride their trikes. With my large 10 x 10 sandbox, shaded beneath the Quince Tree and the vegetable garden, kids will never get bored. I also have included a covered patio area with tables for art, many balls, colorful cubbies filled with outside toys for water and sand play and lots of hidden toys to rotate all year round.
There is just too much to share and not enough space. Come see for yourself, as openings usually go fast.
